Continental Hockey Association Junior C Showcase

2009-12-21

The Continental Hockey Association is set to host the Junior C Showcase in Buffalo on December 28-29th.

The Showcase, hosted by the Buffalo Stars will see all six teams in the CHA’s Junior C division converge on Buffalo for the 2-day event.

The three Western teams (Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Michigan) will host the three Eastern teams (Frederick, South Hills, and Suffolk) in a 3-game set for each team.  The East and West designation in the league is for purposes of Showcase scheduling and has no bearing on regular season rankings.

Currently, Suffolk PAL leads the league with 28 points followed by the Frederick Freeze with 19 points and South Hills with 14 points.  Pittsburgh, Michigan and Buffalo follow with 10, 9, and 5 points, respectively.

Players who lead the pack in league scoring include Brian Boser (PAL) and Zach Collins (Michigan) with 23 points each.  Dylan Rothenberger (Frederick) is next with 22 points, while Michael Iaia (PAL) and Kyle Almasy (South Hills) have 19 each.  Tyler Borne of South Hills currently leads all goaltenders with a .942 save percentage.

The CHA has sent invitations to numerous College and Junior A and B Scouts to attend this event. It is a great opportunity to provide exposure to our players by having 9 games in a single setting over a 2-day period says CHA Commissioner Andy “Sarge” Richards.

The players will also have the opportunity to intermingle with each other as the Buffalo Stars will host a pizza party for each team following their middle game on Monday. There will also be a Scout Room available for visiting scouts.  All games will be televised over the internet via FASTHockey. Parents who stay at home can connect to FastHockey via the internet at: www.fasthockey.com  This is a pay per view site so there will be a nominal viewing charge.

All games will take place at the Holiday Twin Rinks in suburban Buffalo. You can find the Holiday Rinks website at: www.holidayrinks.com.  A complete schedule of Showcase games is listed below:
